Are You a Leeming or a Leader?

The dialogue in America is being bought and paid for with significant dollars from conservative corporate interests. The people who pay less percentage of taxes than you do, are able to line politicians election war chests with lots of dollars and then call in the return-favor of legislation that feeds their corporate greed.

The new Republican House does not care about you, it cares about it's donors. The rhetoric of protecting you by repealing Health Care Reform - which does protect you - is an example of making people believe they are looking out for individual Americans when they are looking out for their corporate donors in the Health Care Industry.

Wake up America, remember it's "We the People", not "We the Corporation", not "We the Moneyed Rich", not "We the Exceptional Few". It's "We the People". Look at how those with greedy intentions are creating a climate of of "We the People with Money who can Buy Politicians. Let's reclaim our right as the true power of this wonderful democratic Republic.

Let's look at one of the most prominent abusers of wealth and influence in American politics.

1930: Fred Koch builds the first of 15 oil refineries for Soviet leader Joseph Stalin

1935 & 1940: Charles and David Koch are born.

1958: Fred Koch co-founds the John Birch Society to purify America and influence right-wing politics.

1967: Charles and David inherit $300 million from their father which they parlay into billions.

1977: Charles co-founds the Cato Institute which became the most effective right wing front group pushing to end social security, deny climate change and cut public education.

1980: David Koch runs for President on a platform of eliminating Social Security, eliminating the minimum wage and eliminating corporate taxes. He gets 1% of the vote.

1990: David Koch founds Citizens for the Environment which has a platform to deny acid rain, it also does not have any citizen members who are not billionaire supporters.

1997-2008: Koch industries donates $48 million to climate change denial groups.

1998: Koch-funded Mercatus Center hires economists who argue that smog helps prevent skin cancer.

2001: Koch Industries is fined $30 million dollars for over 300 oil spills and for stealing oil from federal and Indian lands. This is the largest fine ever levied under the Clean Water Act.

2004: David Koch founds Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks. FreedomWorks will go on to found the Tea Party.

2010: New York magazine calls David Koch the "tea party's wallet". In response David claims he's never been to a tea party event and no one from the tea party has every approached him.

January 2011: The Koch Brothers and other right-wing billionaires are meeting in Palm Springs to plan the next phase of their pro-corporate agenda. See LA Times Article

The saddest part is how many non-billionaire Americans are taken in by the rhetoric bought and paid for by these corporatists who don't care about America or Americans. See more at: Koch Brothers

Charles and David Koch have been buying elections for the last 40 years and using their influence to create a government that supports their corporate interests and unfettered ability to make money without regard for We the People or our planet.

It's up to We the People to stand up to these interests and the shyster politicians they own. Make American great for the people and the planet.

Ignorance is Not Bliss - It's Actually Glen Beck and Sarah Palin

Unfortunately Glen Beck and Sarah Palin represent a portion of the American mindset, generally the uninformed, ignorant and easily led mindset, but a portion of the mindset anyway.

Those Americans who believe Sarah Palin is anything but an opportunistic, jingoistic, cheerleader are deluded by her words and not paying attention.

Those Americans who believe Glen Beck cares for this country or them are deluded by his words and not paying attention.

America wake up. Pay attention to the dangers offered by a media conglomerate that sells propaganda and promotes those who promote the propaganda. Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Fox News represent what is wrong in America. They represent the arrogance, the ignorance and the lack of awareness of reality - not a perceived, made up, only in their mind reality, but the reality that exists.

The worse part is they sell that reality to others who accept it when it isn't true.

Here are more examples of how their rhetoric hurts America and Americans.

Isn't it time to turn them off and engage in real dialogue with people who, as Jiminy Cricket told us, can think, reason and read?

Stupid is...

When I was in my early teens I read The Story of My Life, the autobiography of Clarence Darrow. It told the story of his more than fifty years as a corporate, labor, and criminal lawyer.

It included his most celebrated cases:
• establishing the legal right of a union to strike in the Woodworkers' Conspiracy Case;
• exposing, on behalf of the United Mine Workers, the shocking conditions in the mines and the widespread use of child labor;
• defending a teacher's right to present the Darwinian theory of evolution in the famous Scopes trial;
• fighting racial hatred in the anti-Negro Sweet and Scottsboro cases; and much more.

He lived his life on his principled terms, I admired that.

I hoped I would have a life of purpose and respect. As part of that hope, I hoped I would participate in an evolving world that would put the dinosaur bigoted views represented by many of his cases into the trash bin of history.

I believed we were evolving. I even thought having better frozen foods and Tang as by-products from our space program were examples of this evolution.

But by 1970 I was a long-haired, hippie freak, peace advocate marching against the War in Vietnam.

Then in December 1972 I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. My writings from that period indicated that I believed I could only understand peace if I was willing to understand war.

It's clear that I was young, naive, and hopeful. I believed all learning was good learning. I had an in-bred sense of Justice which surfaced in boot camp when I defended another recruit against an abusive drill instructor and earned my own beating.

Then I became born again. Oh, not with Christianity - I'd already done my stint with the youthful, charismatic, evangelical Christian group The Way when I was trying to make a deal with Jesus for a certain young lady's virginity, he didn't deliver and neither did I, but that's another story.

My born again conversion was my commitment to my Oath of Enlistment:

I, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Most of us know elements of our revolutionary Declaration of Independence but fewer know what is really contained in the Constitution of the United States.

It has a Preamble, Seven Articles and 27th Amendments.

• It defines the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of our government.
• The rights of States
• The authority to create debts
• The authority to administer oaths
• The authority to propose and ratify amendments
• And the ratification of the Constitution

Why does any of this matter?

Over the last several years we've created a created national dialogue about what is and isn't Constitutional.

How many of you have ever read the Constitution?

How many of you have heard the Constitution cited in a discussion?

In the movie Forrest Gump when Forrest, a man of limited intellect but a big heart, is called stupid, he replies "Momma always says, Stupid is as Stupid does."

What is stupid?

Stupidity is the refusal to explore information that goes against our own belief systems.

Albert Einstein said, "The Universe and stupidity are limited but I'm not so sure about stupidity."

Many in our national dialogue believe that there is only one answer to any question, and if you don't have that answer than you must be wrong and no other discussion is necessary. And that's our Constitutional Way.

Many of the individuals citing the Constitution would be well served to actually read it.

The lack of discussion, the unwillingness to discuss differences are the indicators of the growing stupidity in our nation and our national dialogue.

In addition, the infusion of religious dogma and beliefs into our national dialogue is encroaching on forcing rigid theocracy into our legislation.

Our country was founded on the separation of church and state, and principles which ask us to ensure the right of every individual to the unalienable rights of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Our Constitution establishes the government
• to form a more perfect Union,
• establish Justice,
• insure Domestic Tranquility,
• provide for the common defence,
• promote the general Welfare,
• and secure the blessings of Liberty for ourselves and Posterity.

One of the definitions of wisdom is a wise outlook, a course or plan of action.

It seems the human race has had a convoluted approach to knowledge ever since the myth of Adam and Eve and the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden.

In the U.S. we no longer teach people to think or to obtain knowledge.

We tell them what to believe, no thinking necessary.

Most Americans are content with 30 or 60 second sound bite phrases as if they define an issue.

Jiminy Cricket told us, "You are a human animal; You are a very special breed; For you are the only animal; Who can think; Who can reason; Who can read."

But watching the degradation in our dialogue was making me feel frustrated and hopeless.

Then this past week I was speaking with a co-worker. He's in his late 20's, his degree is in computer sciences, he has his MBA, he's newly married, purchasing his first house.

For those who need labels we might even say he's a model citizen.

He and I were talking about the national dialogue when he made a statement that he knows he has strong beliefs about certain things,
• but he doesn't know what he'll believe five years from now so he wants to hear all sides of a discussion so he can learn what he doesn't know, and that may change his beliefs.

His response was the adrenal infusion of hope I needed.

I began to see that the changes I hope for may not be achieved by the generation that preceded mine, or my generation, or even the generation directly behind me,

...but it may be achieved by the generations who have yet to reach the positions of authority.

So once again I intend to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. And that includes stupidity at home.

First, we all need to reinforce that this is a country of the People, by the People and for the People. The People are the power brokers,
• not the corporate entities,
• not Wall Street bankers or brokerage house,
• not Insurance Companies,
• not a single Corporation, or Oil, Gas, Coal or Electric Company
The people are the owners of this country, that is the message of our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.

The people need to reclaim their country.

The second thing is for all of us to turn off our TVs and read.
• We are a human animal who can think, who can reason, who can read.
• The TV mania of sound bite statements, such as the 'Ground Zero Mosque' are corporate sponsored doublethink brainwashing statements designed to incite, shut down dialogue, and encourage the listeners to not have to think.
• They can state their opinions based on these doublethink sound bites without knowing the details behind the issues.
• And they can feel informed, but it's a false feeling, they are just being lazy and stupid.

The last thing to understand is that there is still a large segment of the United States that only receives right wing talk shows and information in their media markets.

The information is controlled by conglomerates who control the type and style of the information the way William Randolph Hearst controlled what was news with his media empire at the beginning of the 20th century.

Knowing that the information some segments of the population receives is carefully controlled may not make them stupid, it just may make them uninformed.
It is up to each of us to make the difference. We need to be the informers, in our own way.

However, if at the end of the day someone doesn't want to be informed there is nothing we can do to force that.

As Max Ehrman states in his poem Desiderata,
• "Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
• and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant, they too, have their story."

And Aristophanes told us: "Youth ages, immaturity is outgrown, ignorance can be educated, drunkenness sobered, but stupid lasts forever."

The choice to be stupid is a personal one. What do you choose?

The Myth Believers: Why do Christians Deny Truth but Believe Myth

It's been several months since I've written anything. Kyralani and I have been so busy with Good Vibrations Radio(TM) that I haven't thought about what I wanted to discuss next.

On March 6th on Good Vibrations Radio(TM) we spent two hours talking with Jonathan Kirsch the author of "A History of the End of the World", a very detailed review of the Apocalypse of John, also known as The Book of Revelation.

My New Testament studies and Metaphysical studies remind me that most people who profess to believe and know the bible, have not truly read the bible. Oh, they've read passages given to them by some fundamental minister who espouses interpretations of the passages, coupled with passages from the Old Testament, that create some unknown link that god revealed to him or her last night in between their thoughts of how much money they bilked from the trusting and innocent.

Yes, they've heard the sermons, the preaching, and if they are Catholic they've even heard the dogma which Catholicism substitutes for a knowledge of the bible. But underneath all that hollow rhetoric they have not read the bible. They don't know for instance that there is not a single reference to a "rapture" or a "vanishing".

Do most self-professed Christians understand that in the Gospels and Epistles of Paul Jesus was not the "Christ" which means "anointed one" in ancient Greek. No, he was just Jesus and his twelve homeys travelling around Jerusalem annoying the ruling Romans and Jewish Pharisees. Or did they. After all, Paul never refers to any of the miracles of Jesus, or even these vast, vast metaphorical references. Nope, not one.

Paul, who was a persecutor of early followers of Jesus, is struck down on the road to Damascus, sees Jesus in a vision and, once his sight had returned, he began to convert polytheistic pagans to monotheistic worship of this one God preached by Jesus. Remember they weren't even Christians yet, because Jesus wasn't called the Christ.

In addition Paul, his followers, the Gospel writings of the "Good Tidings" (Gospels) and the train wreck of a hate-filled book written as the word of god, The Book of Revelation, are all the writings of people who expected the world to end in their time and for only true believers to survive as god smote down all those who didn't believe in him.

Remember this is the same loving god who created us all in his or her image and likeness. The best thing any unconditional loving parent can do is smite down those children who don't do what they want the children to do. This is the nonsense that the faith-based zealots want you to be believe.

Well, I don't. Why, because I use my brain for more than just filling space between my ears. I read, study, explore and learn. When a Sarah Palin pretends to talk faith step way back because the unconnected thought streams, perceptions and false premises will fill valuable space in the air - faith is not about knowing - faith is a personal believing. If you want to believe the bible then at least read it, I know with all the reading of every magazine and paper Sarah Palin may struggle with reading one more thing, but it would help if all these false prophets of our current apocalypse would just vanish. They use faith to hate, to divide, to polarize, to brainwash, to mislead and to lie.

Starting today I would like these false prophets of faith and belief in the bible to read the stories of the Egyptian god Horus and the Persian god Mithra to find out how everything that was ascribed to Jesus was actually ascribed to these gods centuries before the purported birth of Jesus. These faith-based, close-minded bigots parading as self-professed Christians need to recognize that they are believers in a myth and if they aren't careful one day the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy and Santa Claus will pay them a visit to demand they get equal time in the fairy tale belief system.

Why do I challenge their belief system? Because more death and destruction has been waged by man against man based on the theme of religion. Do you know what god really wants - she wants you to stop killing, maiming, hating and destroying other people in the name of religion. None of you have the right answer if your answer excludes someone else.

Let's have peace - believe what you want - but believe with true faith in humanity, in diversity, in connection, in love. If you don't do that you and your religion are false because if god exists - she is about connection. Think about that the next time you want to proclaim that Jesus preached a gospel of exclusion - he didn't - man created the exclusion by misusing the words of Jesus. After all man's ego wants to be god, so he has to exclude those who are different or don't agree.

The truth is you already are Divine. The ancients knew they were Divine. But you can't collect tithings from people who already are Divine, why should they pay you. So religious authorities framed their dogma to ensure the enslavement of the masses by offering to let them buy their way to heaven. God doesn't need or want your money, but all of us need your heart and love for a true Divine connection. Don't isolate and contract - Expand - that's the real message of the bible.

I Thought Christianity was built on Compassion - Apparently Not

I began reading bible stories when I was three years old. My older cousins had received a story a month as part of a Roman Catholic subscription service for children. The compiled stories were given to me and I would read the stories which came from both the old and new testaments.

I found the stories fascinating, a fascination which continues to this day in my divinity studies. Even at a young age I understood the message of the story, not the "supposed" historical reporting of the story. The bible, written by man, is a collection of metaphorical stories that are object lessons. True biblical scholars understand that point. Whether you believe it's the channeled wisdom of a divine god is a matter of faith. The metaphorical object lessons of the writings however, are not in contention.

If you've spent any time reading the old and new testament you can see a clear distinction in the nature of god. The old testament god is more demanding, has more directive rules, is vengeful and judgemental. The new testament god is loving, accepting, honoring, respectful.

Essentially god goes thorugh an evolution in the bible. Jesus comes along and preaches about a loving god. If you love god you will be saved in the after life - not this life - later in the afterlife. It's more of a layaway plan.

The distinction is big. God is not vengeful. God is not retributive. God is not demanding. As we read in 1 John 3:18 god wants us not to love in word, but in deed and truth. In the current world of evangelical Christianity in the U.S. today they have resurrected not the Jesus of the new testament, but the god who orders Abraham to sacrifice his son, or destroys other people because they are not chosen.

If we are created in the image of this god, and Jesus told us to love the least of us, then god can not hate gays, feminists, gay marriage, or the people of Haiti. Christian love, if understood and practiced, is about unconditionality in thought and deed, as well as word.

The false prophets of Christianity such as the late Jerry Falwell, or Pat Robertson, Rick Warren, Oral Roberts, James Dobson, John Hagee, and Rod Parsley, to name a few notable mouthpieces, do not profess Christian virtues. They preach a doctrine of exclusion, separation, damnation, punishment and fear.

Let's begin offering them the same behavior. Let's minimize these "purported" preachers. Let's ignore them. Let them know they do not speak the intended or actual work of god. Identify them as the bigoted, hate- and fear-mongering proponents they truly are.

In this millennium of partnership, in this astrological period with Jupiter in Aquarius, in this year of collaboration and divine co-creation, let us collectively create a doctrine of truth. Live in unconditional love in thought, deed and word. Identify the false prophets for what they are - snake oil salesmen selling a doctrine of hate and exclusion. Do not acknowledge them as Christians. Do not acknowledge them as spiritual leaders. Do not let them poison the minds of people without challenge.

If we want to reach a place of peace in this world, each of us must find a place of peace within ourselves. Be Love. Be Unconditional Love. Believe in yourself. Love yourself. Love others and with humility let them be who they are. But don't ignore the liars - let the world know they are liars, it helps reduce the power of the lies.

May you be safe, may you be happy, may you be healthy and may you be at peace.

Fighting Back for the Public Option

The satirical grass-roots group Billionaires for Wealthcare staged a protest for the Public Option at the Washington, DC conference of the powerful America Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) organization. Peace is Always Preferable to War

Every week Kyralani and I close our Good Vibrations Radio show with a meditation. Although we vary, predominantly we close with a meditation for peace. We ask everyone listening to give their intention for peace to the meditation as we walk through the wisdom of many to the background music Hope from Shaun Paul Productions.

Our meditation always brings out issues for Kyralani and me - it invokes many feelings of "Now". We want this now, not tomorrow, not next week, Now!

As a lead in to the meditation we often quote Ernest Hemingway and Benjamin Franklin, "Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime." (Ernest Hemingway) “There never was a good war or a bad peace.” (Benjamin Franklin)

In the Ukraine version of "America's Got Talent" artist Kseniya Simonova, an artist from the Ukrainian city Evpatoriya, won with her sand painting performance interpreting Germany's invasion and occupation of the Ukraine during WWII.

Without words this poignant piece of performance art demonstrates there is no "good" war. Isn't it time that we created a permanent peace? Watch the video before you answer.

Joe Wilson is a Liar and not much of a Patriot either!

In all the flurry of media hype over the rude, abrasive, boorish behavior of Republican Congressman from South Carolina, Joe Wilson, the issue that he is the liar has been glossed over.

It's bad enough that the Republican minority functions with a level of disrespect that the Democratic Party did not extend to President Bush. It's unfortunate that the Republican leadership still wants to spin the issue of health care of immigrants. It's unfortunate that Joe Wilson, who has apologized publicly by stating he still disagrees with what the President said, are all ignoring that Section 246 of HR 3200 states:

"H.R. 3200: Sec 246 (p. 143) — NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS

"Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."

The preceding section of the bill defines that “the term ‘affordable credit eligible individual’ means … an individual who is lawfully present in a State in the United States.”

That means there are no federal subsidies for you if you’re in the country illegally. Illegal immigrants are not eligible for federal health programs under current law.

However, the Medicare Prescription Bill signed into law by George Bush has a provision offering federal reimbursement for emergency care provided to illegal immigrants. Want to guess who voted in favor of that bill - Joe Wilson. He is an example of a duplicitous fraud, and the people who support him only listen to Fox and believe what they shovel.

HR 3200 is the only bill that has been released from committee for vote. HR 3200 is the only bill that Joe Wilson and his Republican House leadership would have seen presented to the House, not other potential bills that are still in committee. Joe Wilson is not only a Vietnam draft deferring, non-military serving, self-declared patriot who mocked John Kerry for his actual service in Vietnam. He is a liar!

I'm tired or our country being subverted by people who fail to allow facts to be part of their disagreement. Joe Wilson did not serve when called, and he continues to fail to serve the people of South Carolina by lying and misrepresenting his boorish behavior as just a disagreement. In fact his boorish behavior is just a lie.

Why is President Obama the Enemy and President Bush Could do no Wrong?

In the first eight months of President Obama's presidency Fox News, Fox's pundits, Republicans and Conservatives have demonized almost everything the President does.

In the past 8 years if a person even suggested a criticism of President Bush we all paraded with a cacophony of how unpatriotic it was to criticize a President in a time of war. Yet, there is not a day that goes by without some ludicrous condemnation of what President Obama does.

President Obama is variously labeled as a Marxist (a label bandied by corporations in the 20s and 30s because they were afraid of giving power to the workers); Socialist (which is actually a mis-labeled term because it was variously used by Communists and Nazis - both right wing totalitarian regimes); Fascist (which is more correctly given to the past administration because Fascism embraces corporations and runs a country to the benefit of corporations); and Communist (although there is nothing that even comes close).

This may be an outcome of the movement that spawned the Family (as eloquently detailed in Jeff Sharlet's book, "The Family") and the fundamentalists. There is an authoritarian mindset that exists in segments of the population. That mindset is fed in the U.S. by any "either or", "with us or against us" attitude. The Family forms an interconnecting network of power brokers who believe they were chosen by god to lead and rule, and the fundamentalists believe in the word of translated books which they connect in very diverse ways to say that god has proclaimed certain things as absolute.

While I don't want to rain on any one's parade they might be interested to know that the original Aramaic manuscripts do not exist, they were gone even before the Council of Nicaea. The current New Testament bible is a translation from multiple Greek translations that were translated and translated and even mis-translated to make certain points that are not in the original Greek translations - keeping in mind that the Greek manuscripts are translations of originals that do not exist. So citing the bible as the absolute word of god is like saying I have a full head of hair even though I'm bald.

So we have two non-factual positions that merge together. Since President Bush was a born again Christian, those that claimed their fundamental Christianity (a term I use to indicate bible thumpers who are intolerant and as unlike the mythical Jesus as I am to them), embraced Bush as one of them, meantime the Family embraced Bush as one of their power brokers chosen by god, and an environment of damning all dissent was born. Bush was chosen and a true believer therefore any criticism was blasphemous in the eyes of the god and the bible blinded.

President Obama is a black American, born from a marriage of black Kenyan father and a white American mother. This feeds the most virulent fears of some Americans the black man taking their white women. In addition, he is smart, articulate, handsome and has a beautiful well-balanced family, with a spouse who, like the President, came from modest means and through hard work and education received an Ivy League education and maintains herself with grace and poise.

The authoritarian mindset needs an enemy, but they are not patriotic Americans. They have become rapid, narrow, bigoted and dangerous to the proper exercise of our dialogue in this nation. If you listen to the Fox News network then you are receiving unbalanced and biased reporting. There is no attempt to present a story. O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck, Malkin, Limbaugh (not Fox but damning) twist facts into unrecognizable stories. Fox needs to be required to drop the term News from their reporting, and CNN needs to be encouraged to not just regurgitate Fox stories.

Health Care is Not Socialism

We are at a crossroad in our nation. The bullies and the ignorant are determined to prevent discourse. Dissent is appropriate. Disagreement is expected in a society praising and supporting free speech. Unfortunately we are not facing a true debate or discussion about health care.

Raising the American flag and praising the troops does not make someone patriotic. It's just a lazy, trite way to act patriotic. True patriotism is embracing disagreement, but respectful disagreement. Health care is not a socialist, fascist concept that is destroying the tenets of our constitution.

Instead of encouraging rational disagreement, people and groups are being encouraged to disrupt. Many Repulbicans are cautiously using words to indicate that Republican operatives, front organizations or supporters are not behind this mob mentality. If we do not get control of our national dialogue then we will lose our national soul. A soul that celebrates our diversity, a soul that lives to integrate our differences, a soul that believes in liberty and justice for all. That means all.

If you get your "facts" from Michael Steele, Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Shaun Hannity, Glen Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Sarah Palin or any of the Fox New pundits then you don't have facts. Many Republican Congressman and Senators are NOT stating facts. Our Consitution was written to provide rights to an informated citizenry -do you meet that qualification, or are you just listening to the 60 second sound bites of lies. Don't tell me you listen to these propagandists for entertainment - deceivers and liars are not entertaining. You are being brainwashed.

Rachel Maddow provides a breath of fresh, clear insight into some of what is driving this unnatural dialogue that is not about Health Care Reform at all, it is a political agenda. Are you ready to hear the truth?

Insurance Companies Suppress the Truth

Bill Moyers Journal did another fact-based investigation. They discovered how the Medical Insurance Companies created a political strategy to discredit Michael Moore's movie "Sicko". Their strategy included special phrases designed to diminish the documentary value and truth contained in the movie.

As seen in the two video clips that follow, our right to health care and a healthy citizenry is being bought away by "for profit" companies and sold on Fox and other real news networks by political pundits more interested in power and position than governance and concern for the people of the United States. They are using the fear of "socialism" and "government ineptitude" and "lack of choice". Yet, 45 million people don't have health care, don't have a choice, and the rest of us are being driven to higher and higher premiums and deductibles.

In the Christian New Testament, Matthew 25:45 Jesus is quoted as saying: "Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me." The reverse is often quoted but the truth is Jesus was saying if you do not care for the least then you show that you do not care. There is no rationalization for not sharing, not giving, not being a part of a larger community not restricted by race, religion or political affiliation. Those that want us to fear are the ones we must fear because they only want us to be like them, not like ourselves, and they want to deny all of us the same care that Jesus would have demanded, "Give to the least as you would give to yourself."

Truth is not found in Blind Faith!

George Bush declared that we are in a War on Terror. There are religious fundamentalists who actually hate what we stand for. Unfortunately that last fact is true.

We are under attack by religious fundamentalists. They are right here in America, and they are Christian fundamentalists who believe in the bible and everything in it as literal truth.

There are people who believe free will is sin and a curse on mankind. They deny science as attempts to disprove the biblical word of god, which is why they create their own “science” to prove that creation can be proven scientifically (?).

They deny that homosexuality is genetic – it is a choice and gays can choose to be heterosexual. Most Christians don’t know that Jesus says nothing about same-sex behavior; the Jewish prophets are silent about homosexuality; only six or seven of the Bible's one million verses refer to same-sex behavior in any way -- and none of these verses refer to homosexual orientation as it's understood today. We see Christians raise signs which say “God Hates Gay”, “Homosexuals are an Abomination”, and “Die Faggot”. In the U.S. today same-sex sexual relations are currently punishable by a prison sentence of up to 20 years in Rhode Island, Georgia and Virginia. A homosexual can be imprisoned for life in Idaho for making love with a life partner.

Until 1950, all but two states classified same-sex relations as a felony, with only murder, kidnapping and rape commanding heavier sentences. Until 1961, every state in the Union had such a law.

Penalties for homosexual acts in other countries range from ten days' imprisonment in Ethiopia, to a fine and beating in India, to life imprisonment in Guyana. Eight Islamic countries prescribe the death penalty for homosexuality. Incidentally, the death penalty for homosexual behavior was not repealed in England until 1861. In response to a Christian originated attack against homosexuals in the Honolulu Star Bulletin, the Rev. Jan Nunley, Rector, St. Peter's and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Providence, RI provided this response:

“Starting in the 12th century, homosexuals were persecuted, tortured, castrated, and burned to death on a regular basis in the Christian Church and Christian-controlled States in Europe. The origins of the derogatory term "faggot" lie in the practices of the Inquisition, which bound those accused of homosexuality and piled them as fuel at the feet of those being burned for heresy or witchcraft, since homosexuals were not considered worthy of the dignity of being burned standing up.

“Through the ages "Christians" have persecuted homosexuals with every bit as much of the ferocity that is being shown to Christians in other countries today. IN 2007 the Episcopal Church showed itself to be truly Christian and issued an official apology for its part in perpetuating anti-gay prejudice and persecution, as well as calling for action to defend persecuted Christians around the world.”

John Milton said, "A man may be a heretic in the truth; and if he believes things only because his pastor says so , or the assembly determines without knowing other reason, though his belief be true, the very truth he holds become his heresy."

Further, Martin Luther King Jr. stated, "We must all learn to live together as brothers or we will all perish as fools."

Now is the time for all of us to accept the truth. Jesus spoke a gospel of compassion and love. Modern Christianity has turned this gospel into a message of exclusion. If Jesus died for everyone then he died for everyone. There is no exclusion!

Many modern spiritual leaders believe there is a resurgence in spirituality going on. If you look around, if you listen to what non-fundamentalist people are saying you can hear and see that there is a thirst to understand, to know to transcend.

Modern religion doesn't offer that choice. Modern religion is a business designed to market and convert. Real belief is personal. Real belief is not blind faith. Blind faith doesn't allow in information or knowledge, it blocks everything except the blind, unyielding faith.

A good example of blind faith is the sign "God Hates Gays", or the statement from a purported Christians that "I don't hate gays, God does!" These are examples of blind faith, false faith, un-Christian faith all covered in a layer of bigotry.

Pay attention to the bigotry that is being infused around us. Any opinion that excludes someone is bigotry. And those religious fundamentalists who believe they have the only answer may be surprised to know that the religion they are studying, the prophecy they believe is one of many and is not the only written word. Paul is not the author of most of the Epistles credited to him, and it isn't really known who wrote the four Gospels.

Beside these four Gospels there are no acknowledgements of Jesus from any contemporary historical source of his time. So everything about the Gospels is about accepting a metaphorical story as truth. Unfortunately, fundamentalist Christians turn that same truth into a belief that a non-historical text is also definitive history. Blind faith is never truth

The decisions about what to include and not include in the Bible were made by men, not divine insight. Their decisions were based on which aspects they believed could be true and which aspects they believed weren't. They argued, they debated, it was not a singular theology, it was a negotiated outcome.

Find your own truth, but along the way know that everyone has a right to be here. Everyone is meant to add to the rich tapestry of the human condition. All of us are entitled to the same rights and privileges. Anything less allows the true terrorists, the Christian fundamentalists, win their gospel of exclusion.

Winter Solstice and Transformation

Yesterday was the Winter Solstice. This is the end of the long night of Winter and we head into the rebirth of the world into Spring.

The ancients celebrated this time of the year with celebrations for many days. This period was co-opted by the early Christians and turned into the "birth" of Jesus and Christmas. While the Christians adapted some of the intention of the Solistice celebrations for use with Christmas, it still loses much of its meaning.

The Winter Solstice is the original celebration of Light. It is the time of rebirth, the time of transformation. This year the Solstice is even more significant. The Gregorian calendar is off by 4 years. This is a known fact. the 4 year variance doesn't always impact us, unless you are looking forward 4 years and that time itself is significant.

So what is happening 4 years from now. Oh, that's right it will be 2012. And Winter Solstice, December 21, 2012 is the end of the Mayan Calendar. It is the end of Terrence McKenna's Timewave Zero. It is the predicted end of time as we know it.

What does that mean? It means we have the chance to use the energy of 2012 today to make the changes we need to move beyond the limitations and restrictions of this industrial age. The industrial age is the current age we are in. It is also referred to as the Kali Yuga. What follows the Kali Yuga?

We have the opportunity to move to a higher level of being. The ancients say we're headed to a new Golden Age. The scientists say the planet has been realigning since 1980 so the predictions of cataclysmic shifts may be overstated since we are in the cataclysmic shifts right now.

As Christine Breese from the University of Metaphysical Sciences shared on Good Vibrations Radio, this is the time to carry love in your heart and share it with the world. So what are you carrying in your heart?

These few rambling thoughts are to remind all of us, this is the time to create heart connections. This is the time to be focused on how you want to be for your highest good, as your highest self. This is the time to begin your transition to become a higher level of being by December 21, 2012.

What we are on December 21, 2012 will determine the fate of the planet. It makes sense to work on that now, if you haven't already.

The Light and the Shadow

We live in a world of opposites. The Chinese use the concept of Yin and Yang to demonstrate that polarity is a constant in the world. We have North and South, East and West, Right and Left, Up and Down, Good and Evil, Male and Female.

In some cases we've determined the polarities are absolutes instead of complementary sides of an energy. Carl Jung taught that within each of us there is a side of light and a side of shadow.

In the last eight years the shadow side has ruled. But shadow can not exist without light. Shadow allows us to see the light. This is the time when all of us must hold our light and be grateful for our shadow.

One of the greatest shadows in our U.S. lives at present is the campaign of John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Do not be deceived by repeated talking points. These two have made this campaign about character assassination, innuendo, fear, and hatred.

It Isn't About Bristol - It's About Mom's Integrity!

The claims of the Republican pundits that everyone should stay away from the pregnancy of Bristol Palin because it's a private family matter are hollow. The sentiment is correct, the situation is not.

It isn't about Bristol's pregnancy it's about the "purported" claims made by Sarah Palin about the family, family values, and a women's right to choose. Also, it's about Sarah Palin's integrity. The blogs questioning her pregnancy existed before she was chosen as Vice President by John McCain. They only came to attention since her selection since most of us didn't know who she was.

There is not just smoke here, there is fire. McCain is dangerous and Palin is just as dangerous. The frightening part of this issue is that these are not people who love America, these are people who are more interested in being in charge, being in power.

We have to seek truth, speak truth and spread the truth. View this report which existed before the Palin selection as VP, remember seek truth not spin.

A Time for Accountability

Ray McGovern & Dennis Kucinich Lead the Way

The month of June has already presented multiple challenges.

In May a record 562 tornadoes hit the United States. Colder and wetter than normal weather conditions existed in the eastern and southeastern U.S. in May and June, most notably the flooding in Iowa, and wild fires in California.

The U.S. is not alone, as if weather extremes are the province of U.S. divine right or divine retribution as stated by John McCain's supporter Reverend John Hagee.

A pre-monsoon heatwave which hit India earlier this year caused peak temperatures of between 45 and 49 degrees Celsius (113 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit), killing more than 1400 people. In Sri Lanka the heavy rainfalls from the Tropical Cyclone exacerbated already wet conditions, causing flooding and landslides and more than 300 fatalities.

In Europe record heat was the issue. Switzerland experienced its hottest month in at least 250 years while in the south of France average temperatures were between 9 to 13 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the long term average, while England and Wales also experienced their hottest month since 1976.

June is intended to be a month of shift this year. We're moving from the creative phase of the year to the implementation phase. The energy demands that we create the change we need to break the pattern of the past. This is the first year of new beginnings in the new millennium. This is the moment of truth.

The shift from the energy of Taurus to Gemini, the new moon in Gemini, the conjunction between Mercury and Uranus, and the Venus opposition to Pluto will force a re-examination of our inner world and our relationship dynamics. The full Moon on June 18th in the last degrees of Sagittarius represent the transit that Pluto will take this fall when it moves from Sagittarius to Capricorn.

This time has been a time of spiritual growth and religious intolerance.
This has been a time of desiring change and holding on to outmoded ways of doing things.
This has been a time of historic proportions as the U.S. government threw out the Constitution while claiming to support, protect and defend the Constitution.
This has been the time of a historic Democratic primary with a woman and an African-American as the top candidates.
This has been an historic race with one side claiming negative bias they didn't receive while giving negative bias to the other side.
This has been the race with the loser not conceding under some fairy tale belief that they could change the facts of the outcome by waiting.

This is the time when Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 Articles if Impeachment against President George W. Bush and the U.S. House of Representatives voted 251-166 to send the Articles to the Judiciary Committee for review.

This is the time when we need to demand accountability. This is the time when we deserve accountability. This is the time when we need to act to reclaim our country and our constitution.

Over the past two years the rhetoric has shifted from "bad intelligence" to we were "misled". Ladies and gentlemen, they lied. Our vaunted elected officials lied to us and used a propaganda machine to reinforce the lies.

It has been shown that Dick Cheney's office would leak information to the New York Times or Washington Post then that weekend the administration officials; Cheney, Rice; Powell; Rove; as well as various Republican Senators and Congressmen, would hit the news channels and refer to the article in the Times or Post as if it were independent confirmation of what the administration knew. No one has mastered state controlled media as well since Germany in the 1930's.

Now we know they lied. Now we know the agenda was set in February 2001 (by the way this is before 9/11). Now we know we have made the world less safe.

We just left the month of self-truth. In April we're in the month of Inspiration and Unconditionality. Unfortunately, the media is focused on the less than Inspirational issues, such as John McCain. As we move forward in this political year let's look past they hype and hyperbole.

All of us must acknowledge our truth, not our mask. All of us must admit our errors, not rewrite our history to make it seem it didn't happen. John McCain was a war hero. John McCain is not a war hero today. He is a back-slapping, misleading, war monger who has painted himself as an independent. John McCain is more neo-conservative than Bush. Listed below are facts with sources.

Continue to seek truth, continue to seek wisdom.

10 things you should know about John McCain:

1. John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.(1)

2. According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi."(2)

3. His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.(3)

4. McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."(4)

5. The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill.(5)

6. He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a "second job" and skip their vacations.(6)

7. Many of McCain's fellow Republican senators say he's too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He's erratic. He's hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."(7)

8. McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.(8)

9. McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult."(9)

10. He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.(10)

John McCain is not an independent; he is not a maverick; he is not who the Washington press corps make him out to be.

Since When is Being Positive Wrong?

I just watched clips of the "60 Minutes" interview of Joel Osteen, pastor of the nondemoninational Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas and best-selling author. His message does not contain heavy references to God or Jesus, although he claims it is biblically based, but he does encourage his listeners to have hope that tomorrow will be better than today. His message is consistently powerful and positive.

Apparently there are theologians, the one shown in the interview was a Christian theologian but there may be others, who believe that Joel Osteen's preaching, speaking, ministering is heretical because he advises people they can be better in this life, and not that they sacrifice in this life to be better in the after life.

How sad that anyone believes that giving people hope and encouragement in this life is not the message of God. If there is a God or god, why would this divine entity need us to sacrifice in our life for an eternal after life. The premise is folly. If you're divine, if you're loving, if you're unconditional then all you have to give is love and acceptance not punishment, pain and retribution.

To all so-called believers out there I will pray that the loving god of unconcitionality embrace you so that you can lift your hate, judgement and intellectual arrognace that there is only one way, one answer, one way to reach enlightenment.

It can never be bad to give people self-reliance, hope and encouragement to change their circumstances. To all of you, believer or not, I wish you hope that tomorrow will be better than today, and that you will become all that desire.

New Beginnings in 2008

2008 – This is the year you have been waiting for your whole life. We are finally truly entering the age of Aquarius. Remember that old song. It was supposed to be about harmony, understanding, truth, peace, liberation, and love for all. Just when you started thinking it was never going to happen, it is finally possible.

So, why now? Because we are entering the first year of the millennium devoted to new beginnings, union with the all, and starting to be whoever you really came into this life to be.

It is a good year to try new activities, start new projects, change jobs, move, travel, and put your dreams in action. This is a year to be out there living life. This is not a year to be a couch potato. Let your curious child out of the closet to play.

This is a year to focus on our commonality and our connectedness instead of focusing on our differences. Release the illusion of separation. We are all one.

We will be challenged to keep our egos in check. We will be called on to be true to who we are. Don’t buy into isolation, fear, and conflict.

It is going to another fast jam packed year. Consequently, it is a good year to carve out a little time, if only a few minutes, every morning focus on your intentions for the day and a few minutes in the evening to re-center yourself.

This is the year to create from your greatest aspirations and greatest potential. Don’t worry about success, just try something new, see if it works, if not try something else.

Every thing you attempt that is connected to your deepest desires will have a better chance of success this year. Why wait? Go for it!

Remember if you don’t assess who you are and what you’re doing, you’ll be challenged to do it anyway, so you might as well take the action to get started on your new beginnings.

You Have the Right!

Everyone has an absolute right to be as wrong as they choose.

Numerologically the year 2007 is a 9. The 2 plus the 7 = 9. The energy of the 9 is about completion, the time to take what you;ve learned and step up to the next level. Now that sounds easy but it's a frightening responsibility.

This year has been the time to clean out the closets and get rid of everything that you aren't using or no longer need. And "need" is key. Often we believe we "need" when it isn't a need, it's a want. Life will always give you what you need. You don't have to seek out what you need, it's available to you. But life does not give you what you want.

Our lives are filled with self-created vacuums of desires and wants that we believe will heal the areas inside us that we haven't filled with our own self-worth and self-love. In the U.S. we've even convinced the populace that they have a right and "need" to own a home. This led to abusively easy credit over the past 5 years that resulted in the massive foreclosures today.

So what is our right? Our right is to build our life with integrity, find out how to provide value and to be reimbursed for the value we provide. Our right is to recognize that we are all connected and no matter how unconnected we choose to be, the end result is every action we take creates a reaction somewhere in the web of human connection.

And our absolute right is our right to be wrong. To make choices, receive the results of those choices to and to be absolutely wrong!

Being wrong is not bad - only receiving encores for the same wrong decisions is bad!

As November 2007 comes to close this is the month when we can create the image, the idea, the feelings and the focus for our dreams. This is the time to decide who you want to be and what you want to attract. Write it down, read it, focus on it, remember it and know that you have the right to be wrong.

December will start the energy of 2008, which is a "1". The energy of the 1 tells us this will be a good year to try new things, start new projects, new relationships, new businesses. Remember to make room for the 1 by cleaning out your closets, deciding who you want to be, what you want to attract, and then move forward confidently without fear of being wrong because, as James Kouzes reminds us, "Success is the result of good judgment; Good judgment is the result of experience; Experience is the result of bad judgment."

Define who you will be, then Go Forth and begin!

Self-Love and the Art of Living

Kyralani and I have been exploring the topic of Self-Love in our radio show, "Good Vibrations: Tools for Transformation" on AM 1240 KNRY in Monterey, California.

Society doesn’t teach us to love ourselves. It's often considered negative, self absorbed, and vain to say that we love ourselves. But the by-products of self love – confidence and self esteem not only help us to achieve our goals but enable us to give more in relationships because we're not trying to get our needs met through those relationships, instead of through ourselves.

Self-love is the willingness to receive our nourishment from within ourselves. From within ourselves is the domain of our soul, our divine essence. Gay Hendricks tells us that we are all a perfect core surrounded by two personalities. I won't talk about his two personalities which is contained in his book "Learning to Love Yourself", but I want you to focus on your perfect inner core, your divine essence, your soul.

The challenge is knowing that true love of self leads to true love of others. When you have nothing to prove, you have nothing to lose. Having nothing to lose is about facing each encounter in an open, honest, genuine manner.

We've had many wonderful guests: Skyye Song Fell from the Monterey Reflexology Center; Howard Martin, VP Marketing from HeartMath LLC; Dr. Maia Kincaid, intuitive Career Counselor' and Dr. Gay Hendricks, co-founder of the Hendricks Institute and Spiritual Cinema, and the author of "Learning to Love Yourself".

I'm learning to trust, to love, to forgive, to thank, to be ready to accept and correct my warts, but not to condemn and criticize my warts. As I put love, forgiveness, and thankfulness inside me I have more openness for that same openness with others.

Planting Seeds of Consciousness

This is the age of consciousness. Yet, it seems many people are waiting for someone else to be conscious first.

It just doesn't work that way. You've heard you sow what you reap. Are you sowing consciousness.

In this 21st Century the world is spinning in new and deadly directions. Truth is not truth. Rightousness is often mistaken for Integrity. And Christians are often not even Christian in their love, honor or respect of others.

This world needs Truth, Integrity and Morality. So have you offered these three great gifts to the world today? If you haven't the rest of us could use it, and if you have, then thank you.

Consciousness changes one thought at a time. Spiritual faith and connection can not exist in a vaccum of blindness. True spiritual faith exists in a chalice of balance. A chalice that understands science and intellect; a chalice that accepts certain beliefs and precepts; a chalice that knows all things are subject to a change; and a chalice that knows the greatest arrogance is the declaration that there is only one answer to all things.

Spirituality is about connection to the whole - not separation. For this month of April, a month of Unconditional Love, I challenge each of you to raise consicousness like a farmer planting a field. Leave one seed at a time. Those seeds that fall on fallow ground will not grow. Those seeds that take root however, will lead to an expansion of the consciousness you left behind.

What is my point - the Real Truth must be told - Integrity is standing firm on Truth not Spin - and Morality is having room for others views because you love, respect and honor each person; not exclude them by lifestyle, choice, or because they just don't agree with you.

My dream is the Promised Land envisioned by Dr. Martin Luther King, and the month of June is the month of Freedom, Growth, Expansion and Adventure. This month bring back your Freedom, your Growth, your Expansion, and your Adventure in life.

Be a Spiritual Warrior?

Jon Gordon tells us, "No one goes through life untested but the answer to these tests is positive energy. And the ultimate rule for the road is that our vision, positive energy and certainty must be greater than anyone's negativity, fear and doubt."

Every day is a test of our beliefs, our convictions. Some days we're tested in small ways, some days in others.

Now, when I use the term “tested” I’m not saying there's a consciousness that says “Let me test Bill today.” I’m only saying that situations present themselves that test our beliefs.

The most serious tests occur when the situation is opposite our belief system, something we consider true, yet circumstances may find it isn't true.

Beliefs are based on subtle agreements we made with ourselves. Agreements that are often based on a situation or condition that might not be repeated, but we hold on to it anyway.

Beliefs are good foundations, or poor pillars depending on how we use them or rely on them. Whether someone is Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist or other religious affiliation their belief system can support them or sabotage them. Too often people confuse spirituality with the dogma of the religion. Dogma is the business of religion, not a journey of spirit.

Life is the journey of the expansion of our consciousness, our connection to the whole. An explosion of interest in the development of the self leading to a greater spiritual center is being facilitated by the bestselling DVD and book, The Secret. The true spiritual journey is the journey of the creative and spiritual self. What James Ray, one of the many teachers from The Secret, refers to as the spiritual journey of the warrior.

The warrior doesn’t fight. The warrior doesn’t care what someone’s dogma is, or what their belief may be based on dogma. The spiritual warrior’s battle is internal. The battle is the one fought between our mind, heart and soul. This is the internal battle to reach enlightenment.

Two of the Masters who achieved enlightenment in their known lifetimes were Jesus and Siddhartha. After his life Jesus was called the Christ, and after his life Siddhartha was called the Buddha. But there were Christs and Buddhas before them and after them. Christ and Buddha are titles that represent levels of enlightenment. So how many people do you know who are seeking enlightenment? Compare that to how many you know who want a winning lottery ticket, a new house, or even a new car?

In “Invisible Acts of Power” Caroline Myss quotes Carl Jung as saying, “Maturity is an awakening of the need to live a life of spiritual purpose rather than fulfilling the basic needs of physical survival or pursuing pleasure.” This is our purpose. this is our path to enlightenment.

The path to enlightenment is not paved with good intentions, it’s paved with integrity. We open our heart and soul when we operate from a place of truth, a place of integrity. A true spiritual warrior would only make choices based on integrity.

A spiritual warrior would not lie under oath? A spiritual warrior would not take an action that would require him or her to lie under oath.
A spiritual warrior would not invoke protection from self-incrimination under the Fifth Amendment. A spiritual warrior would not take actions that they could not speak about openly in legitimate forums.
A spiritual warrior would not confuse blind faith with spiritual truth. A spiritual warrior would not allow dogma or a political agenda to interfere with a path of truth, a path of integrity.

In my previous post I asked if you’re ready to be a butterfly. Each flap of your wings creates a current that affects people and things. You have the opportunity to make real magic from this point forward. Flap your spiritual wings and don’t forget that our purpose is the spiritual journey of awakening our creative and spiritual self…a warrior’s spiritual journey.

We can change the world one connection at a time.

The Catholics have a “Prayer to St. Francis of Assisi” that seems appropriate to share:

Lord, make me an instrument of peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardon;
It is in the dying of self that we are born to eternal life.

Remember to sow peace and love; extend pardon; show faith and hope; be light and show joy; grant, don’t seek; console, don’t be consoled; understand, don’t wait to be understood; love, don’t desire love. Walk the path of the spiritual warrior, don’t think about it, don’t talk about it, don’t just say you’re a spiritual warrior, be one.

Are You Ready to Be a Butterfly?

Change is the constant in our lives. The weather changes, the seasons change, our skin changes, our hair changes, our thoughts change and this month the time will change.

This past year several significant movies were released to the world: “The Secret” – the law of attraction at work in our lives; “Conversatoins with God” – the story of Neale Donald Walsch the author of “Conversations with God”; and “The Celestine Prophecy” – the movie of James Redfield’s “The Celestine Prohecy”.

Underneath all the messages in these powerful movies is one fundamental truth: we’re all connected. Yesterday, today and tomorrow we’re all connected. We can’t disassociate ourselves from each other, from the world, from our connection of spirit and being.

What does this have to do with change? The world around us is changing. The world is more dangerous than anytime in my lifetime, and that includes the so-called Cold War. We can’t wait for someone else to take action. We have to take action, now! We have to take a step in the direction of connection. In the direction of interconnection.

In chaos theory there is a theory called disambiguation. More commonly it’s referred to as the butterly effect. The phrase refers to the idea that a butterfly's wings create tiny changes in the atmosphere that can cause a tornado to appear, or even prevent a tornado from appearing. The flapping wings represent small changes in the initial condition of the system, which causes a chain of events leading to large-scale phenomena.

Our world has become a world of separation. A world of fear based on differences. So starting today Be a Butterfly. Move your wings and create a connection or interconnection of spirit. Take an action to help spirit flow through us as connected humans, not separate races, creeds, religions, or cultures. Flap your wings and let the connections occur!

So Much Energy - So Little Space

The Year 2007 is upon us. Our goals and objectives for 2006 are at a close. How did you do? Were you close? Did you underachieve? Did you overachieve? Do you care?

The year 2006 numerologically was an “8” year. It gave us the energy of prosperity and abundance through self-love. Self-love is knowing, not thinking, but knowing what is important in your life, and what is important to love and honor about yourself. Some people question – What does that mean? If you have to ask the question then you don’t know yourself. Knowing what makes you really feel good inside, not in your mind, not just by appearances, but that warm, cozy feeling of satisfaction, that knows. That’s where to start honoring and loving yourself.

This year of 2007 will be a challenging year. Numerologically it’s a “9”, a year of completion. The years run in cycles of nine, so when we reach a “9” year we’ve already journeyed through eight previous years that had the energy of “1” through “8”. This year is not a year of new beginnings; it is a year of endings. If you’ve learned what serves you from a perspective of self-love then this year you’ll shed those things that no longer serve you.

Clean out the closets, the garage, the storage sheds and get rid of those items you aren’t using and don’t expect to use. To help with all this cleaning out there has been renewed energy from the planet Pluto. Ah yes, you heard it was downgraded to a dwarf planet – apparently Pluto is not diminishing its astrological influence at all.

Pluto is known as one of the Outer Planets along with Uranus and Neptune. On December 29th Pluto aligned (known as a conjunction) with the Galactic Center. The Galactic Center is the rotational center of the Milky Way galaxy in the direction of the constellation Sagittarius. This alignment (conjunction) took the energy of Pluto and raised it to a higher plane.

Pluto is the planet of profound change that touches upon the most sensitive and deep psychological aspects of each of us. As the ruling planet of Scorpio, Pluto has been aligned with the energies of Death and Regeneration and the 8th house in the zodiac.
The 8th house of the zodiac represents rebirth as symbolized by the Egyptian mythological bird the phoenix.

In the Tarot deck the Death card is card number XIII (“13” for “Limitless Possibilities”) in the Major Arcana. On the positive side it represents complete change, transformation and movement to a higher state of consciousness. On the negative side the Death card represents a refusal to grow, stagnation through unwillingness.

So we have Pluto aligned with the Galactic Center, representing Death and Regeneration. We have the meaning of Death, as represented in the Tarot, as movement to a higher level of consciousness. We have the number “13” (the XIII of the Death card) which means “Limitless Possibilities”. We have the “9” of the year 2007 which is “Graduation, Completion, and Humanitarian Endeavors”. And we have the energy of the phoenix and rebirth represented within the 8th house of the zodiac.

The last piece falls into place on February 18, 2007 of the Western Calendar when we being the Chinese Year of the Pig. Things which begin during the Year of the Pig are more difficult; however, it’s a good year for items which began earlier to bear fruit. It’s an excellent time to consolidate those resources that are valuable and to shed those items that a weigh you down.

The message for 2007 is simple. You can transform your life by shedding what no longer serves you, and doing what serves you and others.

Enlightenment comes from knowing ourselves, our balanced service to self and others, and our willingness to be reborn to the best of who we are. Keep in mind, starting new things in 2007 is fine, but the energy is about letting go so that we’ll be ready for new beginnings in 2008, which a “1” year.

There are few times when the all these diverse energies converge with such a strong message.

Glass Houses?

I haven’t updated my blog since September. It seemed so much of life was happening that I was just keeping up with it. Then something happened which caused me to spend some time thinking about what I wanted to say. I warn you, this is not typical of my blogs. It’s pointed. But I will say that it comes from my heart and I hope you will find some truth in it for you.

Following the November 7, 2006 election President Bush said the U.S. enemies should not interpret the U.S. midterm elections as a sign of weakness.

For me that comment is the height of arrogance. Let me explain why.

In my life I’ve lived many lives. As a teenager I protested against the war in Vietnam. I lived on the streets from the age of 16 to the age 18. At the age of 19 I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. I spent 21 years in the U.S. Marine Corps both as an enlisted man and as an officer. I served with many talented, skilled, patriotic men and women. We served regardless of the political administration, and we were supported regardless of the administration.

The arrogance of the statement mouthed by the President that only the Republicans can fight or win the war on terror is an insult to every one of us in this country. In the last 100 years our country has gone to war under Democratic administrations in World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

This is a President who through family political influence (and make no mistake about this – this was the only way you could get a coveted Guard slot in 1968 to avoid being drafted) was accessed into the Texas Air National Guard. However in 1972 he failed to take his flight physical, was suspended from flying status and then failed to attend any more of his required training.

Every apparent explanation is bogus. I spent four years in the 1970’s training Marine Reserve units. We worked closely with the local Guard units. There is no questions in my mind that the only way the current President was able to get a honorable discharge from the Guard following the failure to take the physical and attend training was through influence. The standards are set, and frankly the options are minimal. In his case the physical was never completed and the time missed was not made up. Therefore his service was not creditable and his separation should not have been honorable.

Underneath all the bluster, we have a President who seems to act from a sense of entitlement. Yet, we the people are the ones entitled. We allowed this administration to act independently for too long. We allowed the media to harp on the fiction of issues without presenting the truth. We allowed Fox News to call itself News when it is a propaganda machine for a neo-conservative point of view. And we allowed the Republican Party to become a Christian, neo-conservative driven political machine. It does not represent America. It represents a fringe element that believes if you don’t think like them then you’re wrong.

America is the land of Free Speech, Liberty and Justice for all. That means ALL. I’m not happy we’ve squandered our future with an unnecessary war in Iraq, especially since we didn’t finish our job in Afghanistan which was directly related to the September 11, 2001 attacks. I’m sorry we’ve lost over 3,000 American Service member lives in Iraq and untold Iraqi civilians. I’m sorry our American public thought that reelecting a previously illegally elected President was better than electing someone who at least had character even if he couldn’t always say it well. And that we, the people, had unwittingly sanctioned the misrepresentations and lies that are rampant in this administration. Some of the administration’s lies were the sanction by action and inaction the assassination of the patriotism of veterans like Max Cleland, John McCain and John Kerry.

What is America? America is the search for truth.

Truth is found in our hearts, not our holy books.
Truth is found in how we act, not what we believe.
Truth is found in the basic covenants of how we honor and respect each other.

Any other profession of truth that misses these key elements is not truth. I don’t believe I’m better than any one else, but I’m equal to anyone, and that is the same for you.

So for those who’ve read this far, whether you’ve cursed me or agree with me, remember that rigid rules create glass houses. We remember the old adage, “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” Actually none of us can live in glass houses because all of us are human. Being human means we learn best by our mistakes, but it’s the learning, the understanding, the knowing and the resilience to keep going and move on that makes humans the wonderful creatures that we are, and that makes this life beautiful.

Our current administration has made the world a less safe place. We have to pick up the pieces and the Democratic Congress will have an opportunity to undo some of what has been done. But don’t be swayed by this President’s speech. We the people have to declare and take our power to change the course that we’ve allowed happen. The President’s glass house is very transparent but we built it with him. It’s time to replace the rhetoric with tolerance, respect, understanding, honor and love.

And for those who think I’m a radical liberal, the only party I’ve ever been registered in is the Republican Party. But I’m not one of these Republicans, I’m a true American because I believe in the constitution and our right to believe and think differently.

From Self-Love to Limitlessness

As you know the year 2006 is an "8". Vibrationally the energy of the "8" is about Prosperity and Abundance through Self-Love. The key component of this energy is the Self-Love aspect. That means we can't achieve true abundance without Self-Love.

Oh, don't get high and mighty and tell me about the mean, nasty, or evil person you know who is wealthy and has money. I don't care - I didn't say you can't make money without Self-Love. I said you can't have true abundance without Self-Love.

What does that mean. It means you have to be part of the whole. You can't live in a closet, a cave, a hole in the ground and still be part of the human race. Prosperity and Abundance come from being a part of the whole.

June ended the Creation period of the year. This is the period when we Dream our Dreams. In July we began the Manifesting portion of the year. This is the period when we bring our Dreams into reality.

We just left August which vibrationally is an "8". This is the same vibration as 2006. So we just completed the month of Self-Love in the year of Self-Love. How was it for you?

For many that I know there were challenges to be overcome. For me, it was an interesting series of tests. There was a hard drive crash which took over two weeks to restore my business and personal data; there was a sewage flood in my house requiring the entire downstairs carpets and floors to be replaced over a week period; a four day trip to attend a family gathering for my niece and her husband from Australia turned into a one day fly-in and turnaround with a visit to the hospital to see my terminally ill aunt as well as attend the outside family celebration during a torrential rain storm; followed by a week of a swollen painful calf muscle that finally healed although I never knew what created it; and it all ended by finding that almost $5,000 of fraudulent charges were made in August against my Diners Club account for technical services in India, and train rides in Paris, Rome and Milan.

My August was a challenge against my self-love. It challenged my five primary energy centers for my Physical Body, my Emotional Body, my Mental Body, my Spiritual Body and my Cosmic Body which combines the other four. So I was challenged in August. And for those who want to know my aunt passed over on the last day of August, she was 88.

Vibrationally the number of September is "13". And "13" represents Limitlessness. That means there are NO boundaries, there are NO barriers, there are NO restrictions against your Manifesting.

July Begins the Manifestation Period

We're leaving the first half of the year. January through June is the Creative portion of the year, this is when we create the focus and take the steps to identify the life or life changes we want.

June 21 brought us Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. The Sun was at it's highest point in the sky which is why our ancestors called Summer Solstice the time of the Midday Sun.

Summer Solistice is a day of celebration, a day of light. It comes at the halfway point of the year and is a time of reflection. This is the time when we can determine how we're doing on our personal and life goals.

The masculine energy of the sun is in its full radiance and the feminine energy of the moon is full. This balance gives us the ability to transform any part of our life. Have you given it all you have to give? What are you holding back and why?

Dr. Dennis Waitley, author of The Psychology of Winning says "If you don't know where you're going, it doesn't matter if your alarm doesn't go off in the morning."

Give yourself a reason for your alarm to go off. Look at where you are and take the actions needed to fill your life with all you want.

With the beginning of July it's important to do the work of manifestation to bring those desired changes into reality.

All year, the year of prosperity and abundance through Self-Love, is the time to identify your dreams, set your goals, visualize and manifest your dreams into reality. Now is the time of the year when the manifesting energy is strongest. Here are some tips for manifesting your dream:

Know where you're going.
Get really good at what you do.
Eat well and get a good night's sleep.
Stay focused but not obsessed.
See your goal as reality in your mind's eye.
Meditate on your goal every day.

This is the time to renew your focus and implement what you set in motion earlier in the year.

Neptune Goes Retrograde...

How Do You Feel?

For those astute ones watching, reading or knowing Neptune went retrograde on May 22. While retrograde the planet of mystery, illusion and imagination will ask us to explore our inner world of imagination. What makes this significant is we are still in the Creative Cycle of the year. So we have the opportunity to take our imagination and bring those ideas, thoughts, images and visions into reality.

January through June each year is when the creative cycle is at it's peak. In the analogy of the farmer or the gardener it's the time when we till the fields, plant the seeds, fertilize the ground and water as needed. July through December is the period when we reap what we have sown.

So I ask you - is your imagination in bloom at the moment? What seeds are you sowing? How do you feel?

Do you find yourself gazing into the distance imagining a feeling of bliss? Do you imagine yourself driving a brand new car that has power, style, comfort and you in the driver seat? Do you see a new house with a view and a yard with trees?

What ever your image is, literally see it in your mind with you looking at the yard from the window of the house; or driving the car; or doing what ever you see that brings you bliss. When you visualize it don't see it as if you are looking at yourself in a picture. See it from your eyes as if you are standing there, or driving, or what ever you're doing.

Feel it, sense it, taste it, know that it is yours.

All that you want, all that you desire, all that you could possibly ever need in life is waiting for you to welcome it into your life. So use this period of enhanced imagination to emotionally feel what it is like to have, be or do those items that you have on your wish list.

And whatever you do - don't set a small goal with your vision. Dream big!

As Michelangelo told us, "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." And Goethe told us, "Dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men."

Don't let this Creative Cycle pass you by without creating your dream; and then taking action toward that dream. June is a month represented by the number 5, and 5 is about Freedom and Variety. Choose to stay where you are, or take this cycle to seek out a change, a vision, a dream and then focus your emotional sense into feeling the reality of your dream.

May is the Month of Creativity

This year, 2006, represents Prosperity and Abundance through Self-Love. This is the time when we find what serves our highest good, and by honoring that we open to the power of the universe to bring the abundance that is waiting for us.

Last month, April, was the month unconditional, and May is a month of Creativity. This is a wonderful time to find those playful centers within us. Perhaps those areas that we found to be fun when we were 5 years old but decided we were too grown up to continue doing. You know what I mean, "Dance as if no one is looking..."; color with crayons; do a paint by number painting; giggle; pretend you're Superman or superhuman and jump into bed as if you're flying; imagine you're a secret agent saving the world; hunt big game in your backyard; or even curl up with a cozy blanket and cup of cocoa.

Napoleon Hill, in his seminal work, "Think and Grow Rich" reminds us that we become what we think about most. So pay attention to your thoughts. Find the areas of gratitude in your life, and then honor them in creative, fun ways.

Not only do we become what we think about most - we attract what we think about most. Think positive thoughts of love, abundance, peace and serenity. Then watch it appear in your life.

Make May your creative foray into your year of abundance and prosperity through self-love.

Consicousness During the Month of Unconditional Love

This is the age of consciousness. Yet, it seems many people are waiting for someone else to be conscious first.

It just doesn't work that way. You've heard you sow what you reap. Are you sowing consciousness.

In this 21st Century the world is spinning in new and deadly directions. Truth is not truth. Rightousness is often mistaken for Integrity. And Christians are often not even Christian in their love, honor or respect of others.

This world needs Truth, Integrity and Morality. So have you offered these three great gifts to the world today? If you haven't the rest of us could use it, and if you have, then thank you.

Consciousness changes one thought at a time. Spiritual faith and connection can not exist in a vaccum of blindness. True spiritual faith exists in a chalice of balance. A chalice that understands science and intellect; a chalice that accepts certain beliefs and precepts; a chalice that knows all things are subject to a change; and a chalice that knows the greatest arrogance is the declaration that there is only one answer to all things.

Spirituality is about connection to the whole - not separation. For this month of April, a month of Unconditional Love, I challenge each of you to raise consicousness like a farmer planting a field. Leave one seed at a time. Those seeds that fall on fallow ground will not grow. Those seeds that take root however, will lead to an expansion of the consciousness you left behind.

What is my point - the Real Truth must be told - Integrity is standing firm on Truth not Spin - and Morality is having room for others views because you love, respect and honor each person; not exclude them by lifestyle, choice, or because they just don't agree with you.

My dream is the Promised Land envisioned by Dr. Martin Luther King, and the month of April, the month of Unconditional Love, gives us the energy to plant seeds to reach a Promised Land.

2006 – Prosperity and Abundance Through Self-Love

Each year December and January represent a preview of the coming year. Each day in December represents five days from February through June. January previews the months July through November. How is next year looking for you? What does next year represent?

This past year, 2005, was represented by the number “7”. The lesson of the “7” is about finding your own self-truth. It’s a time to release what no longer serves you, and a time to discover more about what serves you. If you’ve done your work well in this year of self-truth then you enter 2006 ready for the lesson of the “8”.

The lesson of the “8” is about finding prosperity and abundance through self-love. Now prosperity and abundance is not about winning the lottery. It’s about what is important in your life. But like all the greatest lessons in life you can only attain that which serves your highest good when you truly honor, respect and love yourself. This is one of your most difficult lessons - to know what honors you without dishonoring others.

Prosperity is about opening to what already exists. Dr. Wayne Dyer, author of “The Power of Intention” and “Erroneous Zones” tell us, “Within you is a divine capacity to manifest and attract all that you need and desire.” Your lesson of prosperity and abundance for 2006 is about knowing who you are, what honors you, and to attract from a place of love that which serves your highest good.

What you want may not be what serves you, but knowing what serves you and attracting it is truly tapping into your prosperity and abundance. Attracting the prosperity and abundance that serves you does not take away from someone else. As Dr. Dyer says, “Manifesting is not about getting things that are not here. It is about attracting what is already here and is a part of you on a spiritual level.”

Dr. Dyer says that luck means “…laboring under correct knowledge”, so if you choose to believe that your thoughts won’t attract good to you, then why were your negative thoughts so effective attracting bad to you? Laboring under correct knowledge is how you manifest. There is random chance, but luck is keeping a positive mindset that leaves you open for the experience, the choice, the action that will make you feel lucky.

Throughout history the enlightened Masters have all become more loving, more understanding and less ego centered in the need to create “rights” and “wrongs” as they grew more connected to the divine.

So I offer this conclusion from these thoughts. Love yourself as you are, be willing to create changes if aspects of you are not serving your highest good, but do not be demanding, retributive, or punitive. Think of yourself as an enlightened Master who loves because at all times he or she is loved; who understands because at all times he or she is understood; and who is less connected to ego when others are driven to operate from theirs.
